"Your assessment makes so much sense and brought clarity to the challenges we experienced with remote learning last year. It was just so difficult and in your words "effortful" to get our daughter to do her work, let alone understand it, I knew something just wasn't right. It shouldn't be this hard! I really believe this evaluation has given us the tools to alter the trajectory of her life- providing her with the right support to overcome her specific challenges will only have positive impacts on her academic success, personal success, and confidence as a young learner and person."

Neuropsychological and Educational Evaluations

A neuropsychological and educational evaluation is an individualized assessment of your child’s thinking, learning, and academic skills. Through objective tests and reports from parents and teachers, we will obtain a clear understanding of your child’s functioning in school. A review of any prior testing, classwork samples, and a school observation are also typical components of this evaluation. Diagnoses are provided, if appropriate. After the evaluation is completed, your clinician will provide feedback to you about the results and recommendations, giving you a detailed road map of next steps to set your child up for success in school.

Integrated Neuropsychological Evaluations

Our Integrated Neuropsychological Evaluation involves both a neuropsychologist and a clinical psychologist. This evaluation provides the recommendations for school supports and placement given in a school neuropsychological evaluation, while also integrating a thorough picture of your child’s social-emotional needs within the context of home and social life. Both clinicians partake in the initial intake, feedback meetings, and meetings with other providers or educators. With the support of two expert clinicians, you will walk away with an educational and therapeutic plan, so you are ready to give your child the tools needed for success in school and at home.

A targeted diagnostic evaluation is provided to obtain diagnostic clarity for both parents and treatment professionals. Testing is targeted to areas of cognitive and academic skill that are associated with a specific diagnosis. The following is a list of diagnoses that can be assessed for as part of a targeted diagnostic evaluation: Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD); Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD); Developmental Language Disorder (DLD); Dyscalculia; Dysgraphia; Dyslexia; Nonverbal Learning Disorder (NVLD)

Frequently Asked Questions about Evaluations

+ How do I know if it is time for an evaluation?

As a parent/caregiver, you know your child best. If your child has undergone an evaluation previously and you still feel that you do not have enough information on where to go or what to do next, or you were told your instincts were wrong, then it may be the right time for pursuing a second opinion from a specialist. If you are concerned about your child’s learning, development, or any of your child’s academic skills, please feel free to contact us for a free 30-minute consultation call to find out if this is the right time for an evaluation.

+ What are your specialties?

Our areas of expertise in assessment are dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, nonverbal learning disorders, executive functioning issues, and twice-exceptional (2E) students. We are particularly attune to social-emotional conditions including anxiety, disruptive behaviors, and selective mutism.

+ Are you currently conducting evaluations in-person or remotely?

We are offering evaluations both in-person and remotely. Depending on your child’s age, clinical need, location, and your preferences, we will identify an appropriate evaluation procedure. Most evaluations are currently being conducted in-person, with intake and feedback sessions conducted remotely.

+ Do you provide recommendations for school placement?

Yes! We have extensive experience navigating school placement in the New York area, including mainstream public and private schools, as well as special education schools.

+ Do you conduct classroom observations as part of the evaluation process?

Yes. We believe that the classroom observation is an integral part to the evaluation process. We are conducting both in-person and virtual observations.
